Here, we explore the ecology and evolution of viruses beneath the waves.
I am a graduate student in marine science, and have been fascinated by viruses in aquatic environments since high school. Throughout my research career, I have studied the distribution of a sea-star virus, the impact of aquaculture practices on virus evolution, and am currently exploring the diversity of viruses associated with microalgae. I aim to challenge the view that viruses are just disease-causing agents and to highlight their critical ecological role in oceans, estuaries, rivers, and lakes. Welcome to the incredible world of aquatic viruses, and I hope that you learn a few things!
